Striking A Chord
Striking a Chord is window on the front lines of Iraq, where troops maneuver between constant threat and crushing boredom. It’s also a look at how music can provide some relief and a return, however brief, to normalcy. The spine of the 30-minute documentary is singer-songwriter Nell Bryden’s tour of American bases. As Bryden and her band travel through Iraq, we see firsthand the joy and relief the music brings the troops serving there. At least 20 percent of veterans will suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Music can help begin the healing process. Inter-cut with uplifting and moving scenes of Bryden’s performances and talks with soldiers are interviews with a psychiatrist who discusses how music can help with PTSD.Director: Susan Cohn RockefellerProducer: Susan Cohn RockefellerCinematographer: Nara Garber & Rob VanAlkemadeEditor: Jackie FrenchComposer: Nell BrydenCountry of Origin: U S AFilm Website: http://strikingachordthemovie.com/
