10th Annual Cape Cod Maritime Festival
The Cape Cod Maritime Museum and its Festival Sponsors present the 10th Annual Cape Cod Maritime Festival. The Festival will be held on the Hyannis waterfront, at the Museum, adjoining Aselton Park and Hyannis Marina on Saturday June 11 and Sunday June 12, 2011. Celebrate our rich nautical history, and life on and near the sea. Explore The Black Dog Tall Ship Alabama, as well as other surprise vessels destined to join in the excitement. Go back in time and book a sail on the Museum-built 1886 Crosby Catboat replica Sarah during the day, and take a sunset cruise on the 90 ft fore and aft rigged schooner Alabama on Saturday night. Watch area fishing boats come home to port and unload their catch. Enjoy live entertainment from The Rum-Soaked Crooks, The New Bedford Sea Chantey Chorus, Ceilidh Na Mara, Cape Traditions and Craig De Melo, ‘The Whiskey Poet.’ Morgan Rattler’s unruly crew of pirates will stroll the grounds both days of the Festival. Enjoy colorful and exciting exhibits: boat builders, nautical artisan demonstrations, local artists, environmental and educational activities, historical exhibits, children’s entertainment (face painting, ocean murals, maritime crafts), and - of course – fresh local seafood. The Festival hours are 10:00am to 4:00pm. The festival is open to the public, there is no admission fee, but donations, gratefully accepted, directly benefit the Cape Cod Maritime Museum, its exhibits and programs.
